I've been pondering the Strength card and had some new insights that I'd thought I'd share. I'm wondering how the Strength card is related to romantic love. I did a reading for someone who asked if a friend was in love with her. The Strength card was the answer. I thought this was really interesting. I noticed for what seemed like the first time the mountain from the Lovers in the background and Strengths horns. Have you noticed how two flowers on her wreath stick out like horns? I'm also wondering about the white of her gown as the lilies and the roses around her waist have a connection to the lilies and roses of the Magician (who also has a lemniscate) and the Song of Solomon:
"I am the rose of Sharon, The lily of the valleys." "Like a lily among the thorns, So is my darling among the maidens."
Some Christian interpretations of the rose is Christ and the Lily as the his bride, the church. Also related to the order of the cross (if my memory serves me correctly).
The rose is also related to Death and Strength appears in the Death card. Yet Strength is eternal as signified by her lemniscate. The white symbolises innocence, purity and rebirth. Kabbalah: The divine feminine, Malkuth on the throne of Binah. The Song of Solomon is a love poem.
I was wondering if behind the Lovers is Strength with her lemiscate taming the passions that lead to the fall or gently full of unconditional love and acceptance. I'm wondering if this man feels love and acceptance and is gently holding his feelings at bay. The lion sticks out its tongue perhaps grooming or licking Strength as a sign of affection or maybe as a form of communication. So I see deep affection, passion, compassion, purity of intention, patience and mental/physical strength working in harmony. The foundation of Love perhaps? It's a very contradictory card: sensual, passionate and innocent, pure of intention and thought.
