I've recently bought the Wildwood and am struggling with it. I didn't realise that it differed so much from 'traditional' Tarot meanings. It seems to speak in riddles. Anyway, I have an important interview tomorrow so I'm going to do a reading, interpret it and see tomorrow if I interpreted correctly. You can witness my humiliation
Overall situation: Three of Arrows
What they're looking for: The Ancestor
What they're not looking for: Queen of Stones
What I should do: Six of Vessels
Shouldn't do: Five of Stones
Guidance: Nine of Stones
So my first impression as it is with all my Wildwood readings is what the hell does this mean?
My second is there is only one Major which is the Ancestor. Snow. A thin moon in the background (waxing crescent) Two birch trees and in between them, half woman half stag. (See what I mean). She's beating a drum. She's paused or between drum beats or about to beat. I need to look up the drum as it looks like an Irish Bodhran but I could be wrong. Her clothes are raggedy but she has status I'm guessing from her broach that fastens her cloak and antlers. Antlers suggest mythology, primal, guardian (most forest guardians seem to have antlers). She suggests maturity and has a regal aura. She looks like she's waiting and is waiting at a particular time because of the moon in the background. A waxing crescent is a young moon, seen in the West after sunset. The moon is very low in the sky and I looked up some astrological meanings behind it but nothing definitive came up. So I'm thinking that we're standing in a gateway to a new phase since the moon is waxing and she is standing between two trees like a gateway. The birch suggest new beginnings though they're not saplings. She looks shamanic and there are no hoof or footprints leading to or away from the site. She's standing quite far up on a hill so again I'm thinking she's calling something to her. Again with fives we have initiation processes and an interview with a big organisation would certainly fit in there.
The Overall situation or Jealousy seems strange. (sigh) Three arrows pierce a wooden heart with flames and there is blood on the stone and on the wood. It's on an old tree and seems to be fields or something. I'm wondering if there are three people being interviewed tomorrow or my interview is at 3:30 their time which may fit the number three. The other three I suppose is it's for thirty minutes. Perhaps the questions will be clear, fast and to the point.
They're not looking for the Queen of Stones. A bear standing at the mouth of a cave looking out at dawn. She looks like she's waiting for something or looking out for something. I'm thinking they're not looking for someone who stays too close to their comfort zone. As she is at the mouth of her cave. Maybe she's come out to investigate a disturbance. The contrast between the Ancestor and Bear is marked. The Bear looks inflamed because of all the red in the sky and looks ready to attack because she's reared up. Maybe she's defensive whereas the Ancestor is calm and collected in the snow but very obviously in her element.
What I should do, Six of Vessels. So this is a lake in a forest at the foot of a hill. There are trees on the hill. There are ferns and other plants in the lake. There is a stream coming from the hill that looks like a small waterfall, a steady stream of water moves into the lake so we know it's not stagnant as it's clear and thriving. Two otters drink from the lake and there are six cups which are translucent and look like they are lit from the inside with flames or even pearls. I'm confused because the trees don't have leaves but it looks like an early summer day. It looks like the lake is secret or guarded by the trees. I really don't know what to make of this card. I suppose refresh seems apt here as the otters are refreshing themselves. So look over my CV, read up on the website of the organisation and make sure I have my ducks in a row.
What I should do, Five of Stones. This is a picture of vulnerability with a small child nursing a fire at the mouth of a cave. There is lightening in the sky and shelters from the elements keeping the fire burning. There is a definite warning against caves in this reading. Don't hide yourself under a bushel, don't see this as something to endure. Enjoy it. That's interesting because I just noticed that she is on the ground not up a mountain like the bear. So even more vulnerable. These two cave cards tell me not to be offensive or defensive. The bear looks ready to attack and the child looks like she is protecting herself and hiding away. The Six is calm emotionally with the calm water.
Guidance with the Nine of Stones. So we've moved into a full moon now. There are nine stones behind a shaman who holds a snake (I'm assuming an adder) and what looks like a large celitc torc. He also has antlers so I'm seeing a resonance with the Ancestor card. He looks like he is channeling her. He seems to be in the middle of a spell or shamanic trance and it's very calm. So perhaps to spend the night before the interview using calming techniques.
